Farewell to Lyon's

To N8, Crouch End in London to take the best friend out for a meal to celebrate her birthday.
This has been a venue which has won many hearts since it opened six years ago, including mine. Wonderful & imaginative fish & shellfish dishes which land upon your table.
Ahead of booking, an email arrives announcing that Lyon's is 'calling time' at their home on Park Road.
From their website ..
..'What a journey and whirlwind it’s been. We have experienced so many incredible moments and pushed through a fair few storms along the way but always with perseverance, passion and dedication to the business and all the people who have come through our door. We have poured everything we have into Lyon’s and couldn’t be more proud of what we have achieved during our time here. It is now time for a change and the next chapter.'
On our last visit there we went for the Tasting Menu.

There were .. deep breath ..
Saltfish Croquettes
Coal-Fired Oysters with Crispy Chicken Skin
Szechuan Soused Sardines
Tuna Tartare with Sorrel, Ginger, Sesame & Straw Fries
Pan-Fried Dayboat Fish with Courgette, Basil, Peas & Radish
Teriyaki Monkfish, Shiso Dressing, Crispy Chilli Garlic Oil
We were well fed & every course brought interesting flavours.
I really hope that the team behind Lyon's will be back before too long.
Their sign-off ..
Now we are ready for the next phase, both personally and professionally. We will be taking a much needed break to reset and recharge and once we are back we will decide what the next chapter of Lyon’s looks like.'
Fingers crossed.
