The City Of Dreaming Spires - II
Day two in Oxford.
The first part of the morning is spent leaving our Airbnb as neat & tidy as we found it.
A nice place & the only thing missing? Fresh milk.
No coffee or tea for us upon awakening.
We head off into town in search of revivers.
First stop: http://www.society-cafe.com
Bestie is unhappy, her coffee is not strong enough to get her day going. Godson's java is too strong. My tea gives me a headache.
We're just missing Goldilocks.
There's been no breakfast so we take a walk around the Oxford Indoor Market: https://oxford-coveredmarket.co.uk/about/
A conversation ensues:
Me: "I could go a sausage sandwich. Not a whole one." ..
Bestie: "We could share?" ..
Godson: (He's had a pastry at the previous café) "Do you girls want to go to Browns?" ..

Brown sauce smothered upon my half.
Then the Oxford Morse Tour with Tom as our guide.
My word.
We learnt so much.
Burning Martyrs.
We saw a few of the colleges which produced some of our Prime Ministers, (explained quite a lot regarding their behaviours and political records).
Why the way you discarded a cherry stone determined whether or not you secured a place at one college plus an exam which entailed writing an essay for three hours on just one word.
The strange event which happened during the filming of the last episode of Morse, The Remorseful Day.
Oh .. this was also viewed ..
The most haunted lampost in Oxford ..
I didn't ask.
Let's get to lunch after our two hour walk. The destination is here: https://www.no1shipstreet.com
On the table ..
Rock Oysters
Twice Baked Crab Soufflé, Spinach & Bisque
Potted Shrimp, Toast & Pickles
Whole Brixham Plaice, Sea Vegetables, Caper Butter, Triple Cooked Chips, Rainbow Chantenay Carrots, Tarragon
Lamb Shoulder, Potato Cake, Anchovy, Charred Courgette & Cockles
Crispy Pork Belly, Potato Purée, Dorset Snails, Green Salsa
We had a lovely lunch & afternoon together. The Godson & me share a June birthday which means that his Mum, aka the Bestie, has to cut a cake over our heads and then we all make a wish. Lemon Tart was the pudding this year.
The Bestie thought the candle was part of the pastry base at one point.
Home time.
