Solo Dining II

World Service, Nottingham. A few yards away from the former of Radio Trent.

Still on my Nottingham adventure & ahead of getting together with friends later I am back here:

It's the 'King of Fish' for lunch.

Gadus Morhua.

Skrei Cod.

Pronounced 'Sk-ray' this Norwegian fish is in season from January to April. Skrei means 'to migrate' & at the start of every year, millions of large, mature cod journey from the Barents Sea to their spawning grounds.

It's a delicious fish. Delicate taste.

Mine came with Saffron Potato, Clams, Serrano Ham, Lemon, Smoked Butter Sauce & Caviar.

A glass of fizz to begin & one of Pinot Noir to follow made for a handsome meal.

Over lunch I started to wonder as to what constituted a 'mature' cod .. (five years for the Skrei, but, you know where I'm headed with this ..) .. Would it be that the cod is allowed to watch TV after the 9pm watershed or that it can discuss whether or not there is inherent order in nature or is it all chaos & chance.
