It's a farewell to Nottingham but just an au revoir I hope.

I always love returning to the city where I grew up. Like a lot of cities, towns, villages it could benefit from a touch of TLC.

This evening, a chance to see an old friend. It's a drink in an old haunt of ours before a curry.

Nottingham has some of the best places to find great Indian food.

Pre-curry though .. drinks in The Bell

Like much of the city centre it's a mix of sandstone & caves dating back to the 12th Century. We have Carmeilte Friars to thank for expanding the cellars here & for ensuring that there was a kitchen installed.

I spent many of my student days here. It's a very cosy, proper pub. Low ceilings. Ales. Characters. Cobbles.

Near a bus stop.

My first job also saw me venture here with new friends & colleagues.

So, an aperitif, (a shandy if you will), before spicy treats.

The main event.

Laguna.

In the end there were five of us and we had EVERYTHING. Not literally. Obviously. The spread was magnificent.

Garlic Naan .. Tandoori Chicken .. Karahi Chicken .. Pilau Rice ..

That was just me.

Service was exemplary.

The food, ditto.

Hope to see you again soon Nottingham.
