An American In London
We couldn't quite work out the exact year that we had been together last.
It didn't matter.
My old friend RS was back in Blighty for the first time in ages and we were in London Town to talk, to eat, to drink & to talk some more.
RS hails from New Jersey & always loves a trip across the pond. He was last due here in 2020 but, well, you know .. Covid.
We meet at Embankment station on a most gloriously sunny October Saturday morning. A walk across the Hungerford Bridge to the South Bank and a stroll alongside the very busy Thames path precedes cocktails at Skylon ..

A G&T for RS & a VM for me.
It's then back across the river for lunch at a famous London theatrical bolthole - the legendary Joe Allen's ..

US pal opts for the seasonal forest mushroom risotto ..
For me, the now not so secret JA burger - with cheese - with fries .. plus pickle.
Post-lunch there was a nosey around Covent Garden Market before a parting glass of wine & lager.
There was so much to talk about but we covered most bases.
The most important part of our day of being back together again as dear friends was that - we were back together.
