A solar eclipse & a personal alignment & adjustment.

There had been the excitement of the travels ahead. As always, there was the making of a list, (I love a list), clothes, chargers for everything, travel paraphernalia, restaurant info & books ..

Then came the expectation of the top notch lounge & flight from Heathrow.

It was one of the best journeys as well. Food, fizz, great BA crew.

A 747 still makes my heart skip a beat.

Hello Vancouver. Taxi. Hotel. A bottle of bubbles chilling in my room. That was thanks to AB & RM back in Glasgow who had wanted the holiday to begin with some fizz. RM had also created a holiday soundtrack for me. The tunes went with me everywhere.

The wonderful BC fizz came from the Blue Mountain Winery

First night bedding in. Isn't telly abroad the most fascinating novelty. I could watch the programmes & the ads all night. I did just that as I was trying to adapt to the local time zone & to my new home for the next few weeks. Whenever I'm away from my own stable, I don't sleep well in a new environment until after a couple of nights. Funny girl like that.

However ..

I managed 9pm aka 5am

Woke at 5am aka 1pm

The brain was foggy.

The blinds were opened to catch the first part of the day. I smiled at my new view. I'm here. Almost 5,000 miles from home. The sky & its light looked slightly strange. The wireless will know what's happening, it always does & thanks to tuning into one of the local radio stations, came the realisation that a solar eclipse was occuring.

Tea. Shower. Holiday clothes at the ready. Shorts.T-shirt. Dainty rucksack for essentials & time for a walk to see what the moon & the sun were up to.

Everyone was out.

The light was extraordinary.

It was one of those moments of happiness where I took time to stop & to take a long old breath & to feel blessed.

Plus, lunch was beckoning.
