Manger Dehors à Lyon
Unless it's at a cricket match, I'm not a fan of eating outdoors. Insects. Flapping tablecloths. Windy weather. Sun in your eyes. Pigeons. Seagulls.
An exception was made for lunch in a restaurant called Le Sud in Lyon. My mind was in holiday mode. The sun & sky were nudging me to change my ways. "Go on, manger dehors .."
This was an experience that I was really looking forward to. Top menus. Top reviews online. Top people-watching opportunities. Always a joy.
Near the Rhône & a cuckoo's spit away from Place Bellecour.
One of four on the Lyon compass set up by the late Paul Bocuse who was a champion of cooking local dishes.
Ahead of lunch, another chance to wander around & see more of Lyon. Before setting off, hotel advice about the weather. Then, Archers Street, (Any of Peggy's grandchildren: "Gran, could I trouble you for another £10,000 to save my poor sausage-making/yoga/cider project?) & a Tattoo Tube Station, (didn't trouble it). Two rivers. Modern statue & then lunch.
