I’m very concious of portion size these days …

Apart from prices sky rocketing since the pandemic, if you are eating out, you have to truly assess the value for money of what you get.

A late arrival in and around Falmouth meant a hunt for a place to eat, that isn’t fully booked, that takes dogs, and (looks at sky) where we can sit inside.

The nearest place took dogs (thumbs up from Byron - if he had any) but was fully booked. But we were welcome to sit outside, in the potential rain, if we wanted.

OK.

I know Beach House in Swanpool very well, and I’ve never been disappointed foodwise. It is however a devil to book a table there. Oddly the best seats in the house are actually ‘outside’ the house with a fabulous view across the beach and to Pendennis Castle in the distance.

The rain was threatening, but it wasn’t full on. The service however, even outside where we could easily have been forgotten, was exemplary.

Selected Breaded Ray wing burger, brioche bun, cucumber relish, emmental, baby gem, aioli & fries. With a side order of Chargrilled Isle of Wight padron peppers, honey, smoked sea salt.

It’s a touch on the expensive side for my liking, but with the only other option to hike into downtown Falmouth, and hike back again, the price was more than acceptable.

Portions look small on arrival. But the tastes are truly big. In the end the amount was just right, with a few chips left over for Byron, who as always stole the show and made a lot of new friends.

There must be a formula to be used here along the lines of (S+T-C)=H

That’s to say Size plus Taste, minus cost, equals happiness.

Maybe need to get ‘WD’ into it somewhere - WD = Wet Dog.
