OK, I give in …

Was having a trawl through my cupboards and came across my Christmas Pasta.

Ho Ho Ho.

I suppose it’s the festive cousin of Alphabetti Spaghetti, which I discovered first hit the shops in the UK in the 1950s. The aim was to make mealtimes more educational, allowing children to learn while they eat.

Just a note to manufacturers, tt doesn’t work in Welsh. Not enough L’s, C’s, U’s or Y’s to be useful.

But back to my festive pasta - screaming out for a festive sauce.

I have three suggestions - all of which I have tried and enjoyed.

  1. Christmas Dinner Sauce - great for leftovers. Reverse engineer some pigs in blankets, and chop up some leftover turkey. In a pan, fry off some onions and fresh sage. Add the meat, and cook for a little longer, then add the pasta. Jiggle it a bit and serve with Parmesan.

  2. Bread Sauce Pasta - Make a roux of onions, butter and a little flour. Add the milk, along with some crushed black pepper, bay and cloves. Sieve off the bay and cloves before adding the breadcrumbs. Add some butter and/or cream, and then the pasta. Yum.

  3. Cranberry sauce reinforced wit a little port, orange zest and ginger. Stir in a little leftover turkey, and serve with the pasta.

Enjoy!
