Victoria Stakes
There's been a week away from work & I have been a busy bee.
Maybe it has something to do with the forthcoming change in the season.
Meteorological autumn.
Cleaning time.
The kitchen & its cupboards were the first to be tackled plus the contents within.
Plates, glasses, vases, mugs, cups, saucers, decanters, cutlery, utensils & forgotten knick knacks.
It took time but it was most satisfying, all of it. Gleaming things reorganised in new places.
There was also an opportunity for more relaxing days as well including a lunch here:
There was also a pre-prandial in a new establishment nearby:
I need to have a word with myself about having starters. My eyes (& tum) are always drawn to opportunities to start a meal. If taken, space is then reduced for what will come next. There follows an explanation to the server as to why there's quite a lot left on my plate.
"It was delicious, thank you, it's just that I'm so full .."
Here's what went down at Victoria Stakes ..
To share ..
Merguez Scotch Egg, Chipotle Mayo
Calamari with Chillies & Aioli
Chicken Schnitzel, Celery & Fennel Coleslaw, Fries, Garlic Butter X2
Cotes du Provence Rosé ‘Elegance’, Capdeiville X1
A really tasty meal, particularly the Schnitzel - beautifully crispy on the outside & succulent chicken on the inside. The slaw was interesting, I'm not a fan of fennel but it sat nicely with the celery & helped to cut through the richness of the meat.
There was great & friendly service, too, with suggestions on wine choices really appreciated.
There were leftovers on my main plate, again, plus the aforementioned apology to the waiter who looked disappointed there was food still on my plate.
When will I ever learn? Rhetorical.
