Nottingham Eating
My time back in this great city, albeit too brief, has been a tonic.
As always.
Food has been involved of course.
A lovely Tuesday evening meal with a friend, one of his favourite places & a new discovery for me ..
It's set in what used to be The Flying Horse Inn, a former tavern first established there back in 1483.
It was also the place where I went on my very first date. We had two halves of lager and a steak sandwich.
Not a date this time, but with a friend of nearly 40 years.
Great menu including ..
Focaccia, Split Balsamic
Burrata, Wild Garlic Pesto, Samphire, Dill, Purple Sprouting Broccoli
Grilled Artichoke, Cannellini & Borlotti Beans, Yellow Courgette
Scallop, White Miso & Bottarga Butter, Bergamot
Pumpkin & Pecorino Tortelloni, Honey Squash, Squash Purée
To Wednesday morning & time to return to my favourite place for breakfast/brunch/lunch - Delilah's - Robert loves it here, too ..

I paid it two visits & there was Chicken Liver & Brandy Pâté served with Balsamic Onions, Cornichons, Rocket, Balsamic Glaze Chutney on Toasted Sourdough Bread first off. The next morning I opted for Croque Monsieur with Alderton Ham, Dijon Mustard, topped with Bechamel & Melted Emmental.
To Thursday lunchtime & before I head home there's a chance to return to another favoured haunt of mine, (Robert's also been here) ..

Dining solo I go for the following ..
Cornish Crab - Grape | Apple | Sourdough | Lemon | Buttermilk
Plus ..
Lamb Rump (pink) - Purple Sprouting Broccoli | Black Pudding | Parmesan Herb Crumb | Anchovy
Fair to say that I left for home with a huge smile on my face.
Till the next time then.
