This is the Left Lion in Nottingham’s Market Square.

This is where you meet folk for anything from lunch to supper.

Whenever I find myself back here, I try to pat him to let him know I’m back in town.

The journey to Nottingham is such a well trodden one for me.

My formative years were spent growing up here.

If you travel there from London St Pancras, may I suggest that you sit on the left hand side of the train facing forwards? That way as you come into the city you'll see Nottingham Castle high up on Castle Rock.

An interesting history including a most recent one involving liquidation & closure.

Brighter days now though & the public are back in through the doors.

I don't think Robin Hood was ever there though. I mean, anywhere near.

My trip this week has been all too brief but so joyful. Family. Friends.

There has also been food, of course. More about which in days to come.

Walks & pootling about as well. Favourite days.

Reacquainting myself with a city which means so much brings happy memories but also concerns for the city's future.

It needs some love, of the financial variety. Not easy in these constraining days. Plus, Nottingham Forest are bordering on the relegation zone in the Premier League. Not my team but I would like them to stay up because top flight football brings visitors & money into a city.

So, Nottingham, until the next time.

Lots of love ..
