After sampling a French Christmas last week, it’s time to experience Un Natale Italiano
In Enfield.

I've been here once before, with the same friend, & the food is wonderful as is how you're looked after once you step inside.
A warm greeting as we head to our table & there's a great view of the kitchen, too. The place is busy but runs very efficiently &, despite being a smallish space, you never feel like you're crowded or eating with your neighbours.
The portions are exceedingly generous. I ended up taking a box of my leftovers home.
To business.
The compadre goes for Caciocavallo, Grilled Cheese on a bed of Fried Courgette with Mushrooms & White Truffle Oil

Burrata with Cherry Tomatoes
We had some breads, including Focaccia, as a side.
We sampled each other's dishes with nods of approval.
For the mains .. well .. there was Pesce Spada for my friend, Pan-Fried Swordfish with Tomato Sauce, Black Olives, Capers & Oregano
I wanted to try one of their specials but, alas, they'd sold out of Colatura Di Alici, Spaghetti with Anchovies & Toasted Breadcrumbs
A change of plan then .. Moscardini is the choice .. Spaghetti with Baby Octopus, Black Olives, Capers in a homemade Tomato Sauce
By the end of the meal &, with two complimentary glasses of sweet Madeira wine, on the table we were as full as La Scala in Milan on the opening night of Aida on a winter's night.
I mentioned that this is an award-winning restaurant. Marcus Kitchen & Bar has just been named the best Italian in South-East England.
After collecting the gong, one of the owners, Davide, said: “Since opening we have always been dreaming big, and we were sure that our authentic concept of regional food was going to work. And it worked! We can’t be more proud of this achievement, also for the amazing staff with us since the opening, the real success is mostly because of them all. A big thanks goes to the Enfield community and surrounding areas for trusting us and our crazy dream!”
