Christmas Lunch 2024 - II
Joyeux Noël.
It's time for a French Christmas Supper with one of my oldest friends.
We're headed here ..
A first visit & a couple of cocktails are ordered as we peruse the menu.
It's a warm & welcoming restaurant in every way.
Whenever we go out to eat my friend always says to me ..
"What are you thinking, Mimsey?" (Mimsey is her nickname for me.)
Generally, I reply ..
"Hmm, not sure, but I might be thinking about the .."
This is because I have been checking out the menu for at least a week beforehand.
In the end .. To begin ..
Escargots à L'Alsacienne - Half a dozen snails served in shells filled with parsley, lemon zest & garlic butter
The main event ..
For my friend ..
Jarret D'Agneau Rôti - Thyme, rosemary & garlic braised lamb shank on a bed of mashed potatoes with roasted button onions & red wine jus
Pour moi ..
Coq-Au-Vin - Classic braised chicken in rich red wine, garlic, thyme, smoked lardons, mushrooms, carrots & button onions served with sautéed potatoes
There was a cheeseboard to share & a complimentary glass of Port to finish the repast.
On a cold & very damp December evening, this was the perfect culinary antidote.
