An Italian in Paisley
Friends of mine who moved to Paisley last year have been telling me about a great local restaurant they've discovered.
Trattoria Genova is fast becoming their second home.
What a lucky girl I am. As part of my Christmas present from the two amichi I was taken for dinner here the Friday before New Year.
From the moment we arrived to bidding buona notte, the welcome, the service & the food were all impeccable.
To begin, Antipasto Genovese. This was a selection of Italian cured meats including Salami Milano, Parma Ham, Spianata Piccante & Wild Boar Salami. Also making the line up was Burrata, (nice with Balsamic Vinegar), Roasted Aubergines, Sweet Red Peppers & Breadsticks. The three of us also decided to go for Focaccia Aglio E Oglio, deliciously light, warm bread with Olive Oil, Garlic (plenty of) & Rosemary.
To the main event. Our choices ..
Spaghetti Ai Frutti Di Mare - Squid, King Prawns, Mussels & Baby Prawns in a spicy Tomato Sauce
Pollo Saltimbocca - Chicken Breast Fillet in White Wine with a Sage & Cream Sauce topped with Parma Ham & Cheese served with Dauphinoise Potatoes
Pizza Prosciutto Di Parma - Cheese & Tomato base with Parma Ham, Rocket & Parmesan Shavings
Too full for puds & we had some leftover pizza & focaccia to take home as well. A bottle of Gavi followed by one of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo also made the table.
It was a wonderful evening of great food, drink & friendly people looking after your every need.
Spero di rivederti presto Genova
Hope to see you again soon Genova
