Salad Fatigue

Being without a cooker, albeit temporarily, during the summer months is fine.

I'm now in week two of being oven-less however & am missing cooking & eating hot food.

Fingers crossed for a new arrival shortly.

In the meantime, I have been trying to make salads more interesting by adding slices of Italian prosciutto with truffle. There was some oak smoked chicken one day as well. Some chilled, peppered mackerel has also made the plate whilst, on another light evening, a chance to enjoy some avocado, sweet prawns & freshly thinly sliced lemon.

On Sunday though .. I yearned for a roast lunch. Another north London hostelry to head to: https://minhallandjones.com/blog/2023/7/16/a-sporting-sunday

This time it was here: https://www.themaidofmuswell.co.uk/food#/

Just me on this occasion.

Early reservation

Glass of an extra dry Prosecco

Aged Sirloin of beef with a Yorkshire pudding, (a biggun, too), thyme-roasted potatoes, buttered savoy cabbage, leeks, peas & roasted root vegetables

Glass of an agreeable Pinot Noir

Cleared my plate. An act unheard of as Robert will confirm.

Thought about crumble for pudding.

Considered.

Dismissed.

I was full enough. Plus there was a newly arrived bossy woman in a group of four on the next table telling everyone what they wanted to eat & more annoyingly, why.

Time to head away.

My appetite for roasted meat, roasties & veg - satisfied. Hot meal heaven.
