A Royal Occasion
Best and oldest friend is getting a gong.
OBE - At Windsor Castle.
I've been invited. So lucky to be part of a smashing occasion.
First thought - A M A Z I N G - she's an incredible woman who works so hard to make disability arts a priority.
Second thought - What to wear?
Third thought - Where to eat?
My cousin in Windsor sorted me out with a frock, a dress coat, shoes etc ... God bless her.
My friend's company booked us lunch here post-investiture:

Lots of menus. Lots of choices.
The service was excellent & we were so well looked after on what was the most special of days.
The history behind Windsor Castle is extraordinary & what an experience it was to see inside part of this historic building.

If there was ever a chance to do so, I reckon I'd quite like to do an Airbnb weekend there.
There were five of us for lunch.
My choices were ..
Gratinated Cheese & Basil Soufflé & Pesto with Toasted Pine Nuts
Scottish Smoked Haddock & Salmon Fishcake with crushed garden peas, fresh herb sauce, poached free-range hen’s egg
Truffle & Parmesan Chips
I knew that I needed to share some of what I'd ordered with the table who, once they saw the soufflé & chips arrive, suddenly became my new best friends.
Of course for the new OBE recipient I had no qualms about letting her taste my dishes.
Not many, anyway.
