Meh!
I’m all for trying new things …
Sometimes it’s a joyous process … sometimes though .. well …
Up the road is a fascinating oriental supermarket. I pop in occasionally not only to get the authentic flavours I enjoyed when I lived in China, but also to make new discoveries.
Armed with my translator on my phone I scan the shelves for interesting things.
Bubble Tea - it was all the rage in China while I was there, though I was never 100% sure what it was. As far as I can make out, flavours are locked into a casing of tapioca. You steep the pearls in hot water, enjoy the flavour, and then get the chewy tasty bits after. I opted for Black Sugar Flavour.
Meh, I can live without it.
Also into the bag went … something called Tonic Soup.
Containing: Chinese Yam, Fox Nuts, Lotus Seeds, Dried Codonopsis, Dried Goji Berries, Longan Pulp and Bak Kee Radix Astragali.
You add the ingredients to water and boil for hours on end.
Meh … I could live without that too.
But if you don’t try these things … you’ll never know. And I hate not knowing.
