Sunday Lunch

How is it still January.

This month seems to be going on forever. A short one to come next & then .. then .. daffs, blossom - springtime.

Hopefully.

It was minus 5 on Sunday & time to layer up for a walk to a local pub for lunch with a friend followed by a mini-hike to another hostelry to watch Arsenal v Manchester United. My buddy is a Man City fan.

Me: "So you'll be backing Arsenal today, right?" ..

Friend: "No, you're top of the league so any team that can put a spanner in the works for you to take the title is fine by me." ..

Me: "Whatever." ..

No starters for either of us apart from the liquid variety.

A side of home-made cauliflower cheese was ordered which was the business even for my cauliflower-loathing pal. The beef was good.

Hmmm .. the potatoes. We both agreed that they tasted 'old' and that they may have been hanging around for a while.

No time for pud as kick-off was at 1630 and we set off for the next venue.

This pub also does a Sunday lunch, alas we were too late to catch some Apple Crumble & Custard. Next time.

We did get great seats to watch the match & enjoyed a glass or two of a very decent Shiraz.

It was under £15.00.

In London.

A last minute winner by Arsenal (3-2) made my Sunday complete. Poor roast potatoes aside.
