My turkey arrived just in time.

It was delivered to work on Friday minutes before the Post Room was due to shut.

Relief. Otherwise, can you imagine what aromas would've greeted those fine fellows upon their return?

Anyway ... all was well.

When I got home, there was another joyful sight, that of the delivery of the festive vegetable box from the grocer.

Ruddy aubergine perched on the top of it like the king of the castle. I could almost hear it saying: "I'm back! Missed me?" ...

No.

Everything I needed though was present. Potatoes, parsnips, carrots, swede, cauliflower, broccoli, spinach ...

Hang on ...

Where are the sprouts?

No sprouts.

GASP

I then checked the salad drawer & there, thankfully, I found some baby beauties I had bought a few days back. Clearly, I had had an unconscious premonition of a potentially sproutless-Christmas & had the foresight to get supplies in - just in case.

After a long & busy time of late, I was glad to get the Christmas meal on the table on the 25th following a 0500 work start & a fractured sleep the night before. The Christmas feast was relished & actually didn't take too long to bring together.

Once the pots were washed there was a bit of Morecambe & Wise to enjoy on the telly.

Before bed I thought I heard a voice ...

Was it coming from the fridge?

"Still here & awaiting your attention. Sleep well & see you in the morning .."

Ruddy aubergine.
