Friends Reunion III - The One Where We Hugged
I'm back at one of my favourite places to eat - Andrew Edmunds in Soho, London.
Last time I was here it was for another friends get together.
For this latest reunion it was an afternoon of joy with friends with whom I worked & lived with in years past.
As we meet outside the restaurant there's the first question:
SH: "Shall we hug?" ..
Me: "Well, I'm double-jabbed." ..
SH: "Me, too." ..
JH: "Ditto." ..
**DOUBLE HUGS**
TB joins us a few minutes later.
**TREBLE HUGS**
It was the most glorious afternoon. I have missed these three. We talked about everything from growing older to what work is like right now. Football, obviously #ThreeLions. Plus updates on children & former colleagues. Oh, the world & all its troubles also put to rights.
This restaurant is a haven being tucked away from one of the busiest parts of London Town. I'll say it again - the food, wine & service - impeccable.
Here's what graced our table ..
To begin ..
Quince Bellinis
SH/Me: Half Lobster, Cucumber & Mayonnaise
JH: Sardines & Green Sauce
TB: Burrata, Amore Melon, Buttered Almonds & Aged Balsamic
Main Event ..
SH/JH: Roast Wood Pigeon, Endive, Shallots & Anchovy Salad
TB: Grey Mullet, Swiss Chard & Slow Roast Tomatoes
Me: Pardina Lentils, Watercress & Neal's Yard Goat's Curd
There were seasonal greens & Cornish mid potatoes as bed mates
And a couple of bottles of Anjou Gamay 'Les Chateliers' Domaine Richou 2018
A now familiar conversation then took place ..
SH: "No pudding for me." ..
JH: "Me neither." ..
TB: "Don't want one at all." ..
Me: "The Lemon Posset is really good." ..
TB: "I'll give it a try." ..
JH: "I could go some cheese actually." ..
SH: "That would be nice, yes." ..
Lemon Posset & Ginger Biscuit x 2
Neal's Yard Cheeses x 2
A summer's day with great friends, great food & wine.
Felt so good.
