Day Trip
The list of things to do ahead of a journey to see family in Nottingham was made on Tuesday.
I was travelling on Saturday.
That's me. Organised to the nth degree. It makes me happy.
For someone obsessed by backtiming I knew things weren't going my way about an hour into the train journey.
We were running 25 minutes late due to .. whatever.

Less time then with first family members but coffee & tea here was good: https://delilahfinefoods.co.uk
No time for brekkie because lunch here was looming: https://www.worldservicerestaurant.com
Get a call from a sibling asking where I am because she's already in situ.
Me: "Running behind schedule, we'll be with you in ten minutes." .. (BFF was also in town)

Once at the World Service a glass of French Rosé d'Anjou, Domaine des Cedres, Loire Valley. On a hot day, it went down a treat. Oh, and there was fizz.
Lunch for the three of us (£25 a head) was:
Cornish Cod Croquette - Buttermilk, Rye Valley Champagne Rhubarb, Radish, Caviar (Me)
Smoked Chicken & Ham Hock Terrine - Pickles, Truffle Mayonnaise, Leeks, Crispy Chicken Skin (JS)
Whipped Goat's Curd - Heritage Beetroot, Orange, Candied Coriander Seeds (JW)
We had a bite of everything, of course we did
The mains were the same for all of us:
Hake - Sweet Potato, Leeks, Mussels, Katsu, Coconut, Sriracha Pesto, Coriander Oil
JW & I then missed a taxi to take us to see another family member but got to our destination eventually.

JW's other half, plus Dolly the dog, collect us. Railway station beckons & the clock is ticking.
We're there in plenty of time & I meet up with JS again at the station for our journey home: https://www.beerheadz.biz/beerheadz-nottingham-station/
We do wine, obviously.
JW calls: "I forgot to give you your birthday present. We're on our way back to the station to drop it off." ..

Gift collected. Some Kettle crisps bought along with a bottle of bubbles & we are homeward bound.
It was a very long day but it was a truly lovely one.
The train got in on time.
