Cherries and Cheese

Shopping is all about spotting bargains, but then you have to live with the consequences.

Fruit is a perfect example. Week after week you watch the prices of cherries - I love charries - stay resolutely too expensive to buy. A tiny punnet of miserable looking cherries that cost the earth. No.

Then suddenly, you see an entire tray of cherries at a knock down price. Buy, buy, buy!

Only then…. the consequences.

You have vast quantities of cherries which have to be eaten fresh.

Now, you could sit with the tray on your lap and work your way through all the cherries until they are gone. I have done this in the past. I confess. Stomach ache ensues.

Or… you could experiement.

A quick look down the list of ‘flavours that go together’ and you’ll find…..

Almonds, Banana, Chocolate, Cinnamon, Coffee, Coconut, Hazelnuts, Lamb, Peaches, Vanilla, Smoked Fish (really??) Walnuts, and then…… Cheese. Result.

Yes, cheese - I found a Stilton in the fridge … chopped and pitted the cherries. Served with oat cakes. Nothing more needed.

Sat in the sun and watched the world go by enjoying the two flavours dancing on my tongue.
