A Robin Hood Weekend
It's a Saturday afternoon & the first weekend of October.
There's a Bond film on the telly - Live and Let Die - Roger Moore's first outing as 007 & what a great soundtrack by Macca. I do love a Bond movie & am planning on when I can get to see No Time To Die.
This time last week I was back in a city close to my heart. Home to another folklore hero like 007 - Robin of Sherwood.
In the Domesday Book, Nottingham is noted down as 'Snotingeham' .. There's a legendary opening monologue from an episode of 'I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue' by Humphrey Lyttelton which was recorded at the Theatre Royal, Nottingham about why the Normans changed the name of the city. That's for another time.
I had packed a lot in for my short three days there. Lots of family & friends to see. The meals enjoyed in varied establishments to come over the next few days here, but, I wanted to start by sharing where I began each morning for breakfast/brunch right in the heart of the city & in sight of the Council House ..

It's a fantastically welcoming place which is heaving with good things to eat, drink & take away with you.
My favourite dish ahead of a long day ahead was this ..
Croque Monsieur
Sourdough
Alderton Ham, Mustard, Béchamel & Melted Emmental
Add a fried egg? A quid. Nice.
Top serivce, too. One couple I saw who came in post-noon who wanted something from the breakfast menu were greeted with: "No problem whatsoever, we can do that for you." ..
Reckon both Robin Hood & James Bond would approve.
