Friends IV
Technology has been crucial during the strange days of lockdown, however, nothing beats seeing one of your favourite folk for real.
Robert & me are out for lunch & we're excited.
Really, really excited.

There's an Aperol Spritz for RJ & an icy cold Vodka Martini for me.
Glasses are clinked, (this will be repeated several times during the afternoon,) & menus perused.

Piattoni Beans, peach, rosary goat's cheese, almonds (Who knew peach & soft cheese would pair up like Antony & Cleopatra?)
Grilled Mackerel, pistachio & orange chermoula & green bean salad (Best fresh mackerel I've ever tasted)
Rovi Beef Merguez Sausage, aubergine ezme sauce (Spicy treat, RJ adored this dish)
Noises of happiness emanate from us both

Jerusalem Mixed Grill (Chicken today with kidneys & liver), baharat onions, pickles, pita, tahini (charred to perfection)
Lamb Rump, tamarind & parsley sauce (Juicy, generous slices)
Nama Yasai new potatoes, lovage & preserved lemon butter (Beautiful mauve and golden yellow tiny spuds)
We went to Bethlehem for the wine - Baladi
World put to rights.
Smiles on faces before masks are back on & we part.
