I was giving the daily run a miss this morning. My bones needed a rest.

Rather than running around the boundaries of it as I had done on previous days, I was about to have a stroll & a nosey around the lungs of Vancouver, aka Stanley Park.

It's a huge & magnificent urban wonderland. Not just trees, but water & views of mountains & that amazing Canadian sky. Plus a statue of Robbie Burns which took me by surprise. The poet had the honour of being the very first statue to be erected in Stanley Park (1928). There are inscriptions of three of his poems.

The walk gladdened my soul.

Time for a little pause at Stanley’s Bar and Grill.

Nothing to eat here though because there was a meal booked elsewhere for later. It was just a refreshing Canadian Rosé. Mission Hill. It hit the spot as I wrote postcards home.

On the walk home, more surprises: Brockton Pavilion, a cricket pitch & totem poles.

I adore this place.
