A birthday trip to La Grassa - The Fat One.

A well deserved nickname for a city with the most wonderful reputation for its food, wine & hospitality.

Where to begin? I was here with JW, both of us celebrating a year in which we welcomed, (well, not really 'welcomed' more of .. 'resigned to') a port of call with a zero in it.

There's so much I want to share with you about this beautiful place. the food, the vegetables, the fish, meat, cheeses, breads.

Oils, vinegars.

The passion for good things to eat & drink.

I'm going to start with our first meal out. We happened to take a left turn during a discovery walk & found ..

It was busy with folk at lunchtime as we passed by.

"This looks lovely .."

We book for later that evening.

JW suggests we sit outside. I'm not keen on exterior dining. Anyhow .. the setting is fine (occasional passing buses & cars aside) & the tables are set well with white linen.

To the menus. We were very keen to try one of the local specialities which is Tortellini Rigorosamente In Brodo Di Capone

Pasta in Chicken Broth

Yum. Perfect portion. Salty, sweet, meaty tiny  parcels of pasta

To begin .. Six Local Cheeses for JW & for me .. Acciughe Del Cantabrico Con Pane

Cantabrian Anchovies with Bread & Butter

This was a perfect start to the adventure that is the capital of the Emilia-Romagna region.

We have arrived! Siamo arrivati!
