La Joie de Toulouse III
Waking up to a view of the Basilica in Toulouse with a blue sky on a summer morning is something I shall remember forever.
Walking around the Victor Hugo Market post-breakfast, equally so.
Today, it's time to walk the aisles with counters filled with fish & shellfish.
Packed with the familiar & the unusual. The exotic, the alluring & then the .. well .. fierce looking.
The joy of the market was matched by watching the locals with the vendors; chatting, choosing, buying.
Mainly women but not exclusively. Without exception though, I saw only keen eyes for the very best produce & price.
Behind the counters, confident (& mainly cheerful,) artisans happy to show off their culinary bounty.
I wanted to grab a bag (or five), spend a few Euros & be heading back to a bolthole with a kitchen & somewhere to cook.
As it was on this day I was about to go in search of the restaurant already booked for lunch.
Would there be time to peruse the cheese & bread delights?
Let's get a sprint on & see.
