Christmas Lunch 2024 - I

My first Christmas lunch of 2024 has been booked in the diary since ..

Well, for a wee while, let's say.

There were a couple of reasons for the early reservation.

1) This is a very popular restaurant & has a great reputation for Sunday Roasts

2) December is a time of busyness for many of us but it's good to make time to see friends & family

Here's the venue & it's a personal favourite about which I've written before.

Imagine the delight when, upon arrival, I saw this was on the menu ..

Roast Norfolk Bronze Turkey Breast, Chestnut & Apricot Stuffed Leg, Pig in Blankets, Carrots, Parsnips, Roast Potatoes & Yorkshire Pudding

My dining companion was running a little late & we only had the table for 2 hours.

I'm a slow eater. Really slow.

The apologetic friend arrives & menus are fully perused.

ME: "No starter for me."

PAL: "Me neither."

We both go for the Christmas special plus a bottle of Domus, Puglia, Italy, ‘22 Primitivo.

I think Robert would have swooned at the sight of the Pig in Blanket when it arrived on the plate.

Everything was delicious. The stars? The turkey, the Pig in Blanket & the Roast Potatoes.

Oh, plus the parsnips, carrots, the gravy.

Did I mention the Yorkshire Pudding?

There was no room or time for pudding as we were both headed to a nearby hostelry for some football.

Liverpool v Manchester City.

2-0 to the home side.

My friend is a City fan & had to have a Mince Pie & Ice Cream in the pub for comfort.

I joined her only in friendship, you understand.

First festive lunch of the season.

It's going to be hard to beat.
