Bonjour Mon Vieil Ami Lyon - III
I woke up to the sound of heavy rain & a severe weather warning in Lyon on my last day there.
Back to bed for half an hour with a French news programme on the TV called 'Bonjour' .. I'm waiting for the forecast.
There's no checking out of the hotel until noon & so it's a relaxed & gentle start to my day ahead of lunch.
This is the destination & I've been here before ..

This is one of the five brasseries created by a legendary chef of Lyon - Paul Bocuse. He was called "the pope of gastronomy" & affectionately nicknamed Monsieur Paul. Could this be the inspiration behind the restaurant Monsieur P?

After his death in 2018, Bocuse's son, Jérôme, asked for there not to be a national tribute, saying that it wasn't what his father would have wanted. President Macron recognised a "mythical figure" who represented "French gastronomy in its generosity, its respect for traditions but also its inventiveness."
There's a rather wonderful statue of him inside the Lyon Tourism Office in Place Bellecour - a hop, skip & a jump from Le Sud.
The rain subsided a little & I headed off for a bite to eat. Bags in hand & a little soggy plus the clock is on for the flight home.
A table by the window & time to breathe.
Time to get ordering. One course for me. Risotto Carnaroli, Crevettes, Parmigiano Reggiano.
On a wet & chilly day this dish was the best remedy. Unctuous. Silky smooth. Packed with the flavours you'd dream of enjoying. Huge & succulent prawns. A rich, cheesy, creamy risotto. Despite eating alone, I uttered audibly: "Oh my word, that's unbelievable."
Clean bowl.
Bill paid & there's a break in the weather. Metro time. Rhônexpress time.
Home time.
Merci beaucoup Lyon, jusqu'à la prochaine fois.
Thank you Lyon, until the next time.
