Roses are Red and Violets are Blue ...
… and it appears that Raspberries can be yellow!
House sitting in Devon at the moment which is always a culinary delight. And also a surprise to find yellow raspberries in the garden. Apparently they are a mutation. Slightly sweeter I feel than the usual red ones.
Checking up - they usually fruit late in the Summer. So these are early.
Before leaving Wales I stumbled on a mile or so of fantastically fat and sweet Blackberries which will probably be gone by the time I get back.
Everything’s early this year … I’d suggest it’s because the weather is doing a pretty good impression of Autumn already. It certainly felt autumnal during an early run, mists hesitating over the River Dart.
Making plans to do a little cooking of local fayre … and not having much like. A first enquiry suggested - Fish’n’chips, Pasty, Crab Sandwiches, Sunday Roast, Cream Tea, Ice Cream, Fudge and Cider … hardly inspirational.
Digging deeper - Devonshire Splits, Squad Pie, Hog’s Pudding, Sharpham Cheese, and Devon Blue.
Ah yes… the Cheese Shop in …
There must be more …. more digging needed.
