I've never cooked chips except for the oven-ready variety which I've never really found satisfying.

Floppy or burnt - nothing in between in my experience.

This particular evening though, it was not to be fish.

I shared with Robert that I was not having a good food week, in that, work commitments had meant takeaways two nights on the trot.

Not that I didn't enjoy any of it.

The favourite, on a wet & blustery March evening which felt more like October than the start of Spring, was this ..

I'd been thinking about what I wanted to order from my local award-winning chippy on my journey home.

I got lucky. One Mince & Onion pie left. Regular chips.

"Salt & vinegar on everything?"

"Yes please & don't be shy with either."

Home. Cutlery. Lea & Perrins.

I managed half of the repast.

Half an hour watching some candy floss on Netflix before bed.

Sometimes on the way back from work, the aroma of the chip shop fills the air. Mostly, I resist. Once in a while, I can't.
