Tandoor Chop House
'It brings together the very best of both worlds ..'
Where is this then ..?
The Tandoor Chop House in London's Covent Garden.
In their words ..
'Tandoor Chop House is the meeting of a North Indian communal eatery and a classic British chop house .. combining the distinct flavour of the tandoor with Indian spices and marinades, select prime cuts of meat, and a vibrant atmosphere.' ..

I'm in.
As indeed was my friend who'd suggested this cosy eaterie for an early bite to eat on a cold pre-spring evening.
We were both very hungry & here's what was ordered for our table ..
Bhaji onion rings with smoked aubergine raita
Cauliflower croquettes, lime pickle mayo
House tandoor chicken
Black pepper chicken tikka
Black dahl
Butter naan
For me it was the predictable adage of eyes bigger than tum.
For the record ..
I managed 1 & a half onion rings
1 Cauli croquette
1 piece of the chicken tikka
A bit of the tandoor chicken
A spoonful of the dahl
1/2 of the naan
In the end I ate like a mouse really but, what I did have, was thoroughly scrumptious. Spicy, warming, comforting. Plenty of both sharp & creamy sauces to dip bread & meat into. Some new tastes, too.
London has an extraordinary culinary history when it comes to Chop Houses:

I always enjoy reading & learning about where our food comes from & the journey it's taken.
A continuing odyssey I hope.
