I think it is one of life’s little ironies that Turmeric is actually a natural treatment for anxiety.

To me the Turmeric root looks like something they have to eat on ‘I’m a Celebrity, Get me out of here!’

But the science is well known.

It’s an anti inflammatory, good for arthritis, aches and pains after exercise and kidney health. What’s not to love.

Not easy to find. You need to find a specialist shop - but it’s actually quite cheap - a handful for a pound.

However - how do you cook it?

Especially as it’s not very easy to be absorbed by the body.

The thumbs up are given to Turmeric Tea, Soups though there are occasional side effects and should be avoided if you are taking certain medications. Best to do your research.

Foodwise, it’s great for smoothies, grated into salads, added to curries. It pairs well with egg and in omelettes, plus works well with chicken, fish vegetables.

My favourite is to make a tea - Peel the root, grate it finely, squeeze in some lemon, add a black pepper - steep in some hot water for about 10 minutes. Add a little honey for sweetness. Let it cool for a bit.
