Had a bit of a Coddiwompling day today …

I aspire to these kind days. It’s the opposite of trudging through a mountain of work until you can no longer see or think straight.

They begin with putting your coat on, all weather footware (essential) and a backpack and setting off. At the first junction, your follow your nose … from here it’s left to Pendennis Point, straight on to Gyllyngvase Beach, and right to Falmouth Town.

Option A: Coddywomple towards Pendennis Point and ‘pootle down to some of the hidden rocky beaches which seem to be off the beaten tourist track. Rise up to the point, stare out to sea with nothing particular on your mind. Consume an ice cream from one of two vans vying for your attention. Both as good as each other. And then continue round until you get to the Falmouth Hotel. Then .. home or …

Option B: Dally on Castle Beach… take in a coffee. If tide in .. stare at sea. If tide out, sit on the beach and watch other people watching other people. Carry on until you reach Gyllyngvase Beach. Lovely Sea Lettuce at the far end (Collect if tide permitting.) Possibly continue round to Swanpool Beach, and time permitting to Maenporth. Return to base.

Option C: Coddiwomple into Falmouth Town… tons of places to tarry. The National Maritime Museum. Then on past Trago Mills, up round to the Poly and a coffee in Solskinn upstairs at the Poly. A bit of an Ibiza Vibe. Continue through the town to the Pier. Stare at the sea. Return.

Of course you can Coddiwomple further afield but that somewhat needs a little planning and possibly is against the spirit of Coddiwompling?

Basic stages are - GO - SEE - STARE - RETURN.

Now we could get into Catawumpussing (heading awkwardly in the wrong direction) but I’ll save that for another day.
