Jul 11 'Ripe, Strawberries, Ripe!' ..

There's been a lot of news to absorb & to process this past week or so.

Notwithstanding Larry the cat's thoughts on events at No.10 Downing Street - @Number10cat - there was incoming from SW19.

The price of the favourite treat at Wimbledon, strawberries & cream, defied inflation & stayed at £2.50 for the twelfth year running.

I love a stat & here are some goodens about the summer jewels for tennis fans lucky enough to have had tickets for the All England Club.

Around 8,615 punnets are consumed every day that the tournament is on, that's around 28,000 kg over two weeks. On the top, 7,000 litres of fresh cream.

After a scorching Saturday, & a lovely lunch of tapas with an old friend, no repast was needed in the evening. I had left my own punnet of strawberries out in the kitchen & decided that a bowl of the sweet beauties would round off the day nicely.
