Dining Divas
It's been a year since these cousins have been able to get together.
We like to gather to eat good food, to drink good wine, to put everything to rights, to make plans & to laugh.
A lot.
We each take a turn to pick a place which we hope everyone will love. There have been no disappointments.
Here's the latest stop off: https://thecowlondon.com
We were all particularly taken with the House Rules: https://thecowlondon.com/house-rules/
A great place & a proper pub.
In a moment, I need to share the tale of the wine but, first, here's what was chosen for the table in the upstairs dining room ..
Oysters
Carlingford Rocks, Ireland
Jersey Rocks, Channel Islands
Grilled Squid with Chilli
Smoked Cod Roe & Toasted Bread
Crab Tagliolini, Tomato & Chilli
Chargrilled Monkfish
Pint of Prawns
Bread & Butter
**
Pud
Banoffee Pie
Rhubarb Crumble & Custard
Cheeses - Membrillo, Lincolnshire Poacher, Tunworth, Stilton, Driftwood, Fruit Bread & Biscuits
**
Plates, cleared, each & every one.
Plates, shared & tried each & every one.
**
Service, brilliant. Here comes one of the reasons why.
**
The wine debate.
**Cue Various Voices**
Mâcon-Villages, Aléxis Pollier, Burgundy .. "Had this here before & it's lovely.." ..
"Or Huia Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough .. " ..
"No, I don't like that .." ..
Another Dining Diva to the waiter: "Please may we have a taste of both?" ..
Waiter: "Of course .."
We all try a sip each of both ..
Appreciative nods all round but no decision reached ..
Another Dining Diva to the table: "Why don't we go for the Gavi?" ..
Table in unison: "Agreed! Dear patient waiter, could we please get a bottle of the Gavi di Tassarolo ‘La Fornace’, Bergaglio, please?" ..
Waiter: **Smiles&Sighs** "Of course .."
We all loved the wine & the food of which there was plenty.
There were plans hatched as well for the Autumn & the Spring.
Love my family.
