An Indian Castle

I've been wrapping Christmas presents.

In November.

Good reasons though. I wanted to get a little gift to Robert & I've been in Nottingham to see family ahead of the festive season.

Quite a journey to get there though involving torrential rain, Peterborough, Grantham & a bus. Robert offered help & sympathy along the way via the sorcery of being online.

It was a lovely few days & I also got to see a dear friend of old for what was just going to be for drinks but also ended up with eating in a fantastic new curry restaurant in the city. Nottingham is truly blessed when it comes to amazing curry houses.

IH has been to this one three times in three weeks since it opened: https://kottaramrestaurant.com/about-us-1/

I soon discovered why.

Kottaram translates as 'castle' ..

The food was the best in a restaurant I've tasted in a while.

We decided to share three dishes.

IH took less than a minute to decide upon the Prawn Puri: "It's just the best ..". King Prawns pan-roasted set on Puri bread finished with freshly diced red onions, coriander & tamarind chutney.

I followed IH's prawn lead & opted for the Tandoori Prawn Cocktail from their Mumbai Street Food selection. It came in a Martini glass (always a comforting sight for this dish) with chopped lettuce, mango mint sauce & tandoori mayo.

Then came the Murgh Tikka, chicken breast in a tandoori masala & cooked in a tandoor oven.

Pilau Rice.

Garlic Naan. The finest, the most delicious known to humankind we both agreed. In fact, everything was wonderfully tasty, fragrant & the choices were simply outstanding - as was the service.

There was Champagne, too. IH had recently marked one of 'those' birthdays.

It's important to celebrate. Always. Particularly nowadays.
