Match Day
The first day of the clocks going back & I'm excited. Not so much for the extra hour, though that is a bonus, but more so for what lies ahead this Sunday afternoon.
I'm off to the football in N5.
The Emirates Stadium calls as I get ready to head to watch Arsenal v Nottingham Forest.
I love to go here as previously documented: https://minhallandjones.com/blog/2020/6/26/ooh-to-be-a-gooner
It's an afternoon kick off at 2pm. The plan is, as always, to meet JB at Finsbury Park before taking a tincture at The Auld Triangle pub.
Lager for JB, Guinness & Black for me (2 halves for the lady, never a pint).
Stadium time but not before my traditional cheeseburger en route. The gentleman who runs this stall, & who with his tiny team, cooks the meaty feasts (hot dogs are also available) is a top chap who knows JB well by now. I have soft, sweet onions, American Mustard & plenty of napkins - PLENTY OF NAPKINS.
Cheeseburger is devoured just in time to enter the Emirates - all walking & eating - no talking & no pics. Once inside this magnificent place, there's pre-kick off singing, Merlot in a plastic glass & much excitement.
I felt a bit for Forest, outplayed on every level. The club has great fans, loyal. They'd travelled a long way to see their side walloped 5-0.
Arsenal top of the Premier League. Forest still at the bottom of it.
Post-match analysis carried out at The Twelve Pins.
Happy & home, highlights watched on MoTD.
It had been a good day.
