A birthday treat. For me. From friends.

Robert & I have been here for lunch before a few years ago & we both loved the setting right on the North Sea & the food, oh, the food.

The menu changes daily.

In more recent times & with different friends, it was a perfect supper. All the locally caught fish & shellfish are smoked on site. As the early evening light disappeared, the three of us ate in candlelight on the top floor where many treasures of the sea were brought to the table. We were hungry for everything on the menu. For the starters, it was decided that we could pick three & share. Oh my .. & did we share ..

My first choice was the Chargrilled Octopus .. I'd never tasted octopus like it. Smokey, succulent, sweet ..

Also making its way to my plate was the Smoked Mackerel Pâté with Oatcakes ..

The triple bill was rounded off with Smoked Tempura Prawns accompanied by a dip I could have had a cupful of on its own ..

So, the evening begins & what would we be choosing next?
