Jurassic Romanesco


A chilly & wet evening was in store & the cupboard was a little bare.

Bangers, lentils & veg I thought.

Local butcher for the sausages & the greengrocer for carrots, broad beans plus ..

A beautiful Romanesco Cauliflower.

Paying for my wares, the woman at the till said:

"I always think these caulis look like a dinosaur's foot." ..

Me: "Erm." ..

She had a point.

Here's what happened ..

4 Sausages (Pork, Beef, Rosemary, Garlic & Honey)

4 Garlic Cloves Sliced

1 Ltr Vegetable Stock

400g Puy Lentils

Bangers with some oil in a pan to brown

Add the garlic & cook for a few minutes

Stock goes in next & bring it to the boil

Lentils are in next & bring the stock back to a gentle boil

Lower the heat to a simmer

Cover the pan & leave everything for 40-45 minutes

Season

Serve with any veg of your fancy, prehistoric-looking or otherwise.
