Leaving On A Jet Plane
The last time I was on a plane was in March 2020. Returning home from Glasgow after working but also seeing friends.
Last Saturday I was back at Heathrow T5 to fly back to this vibrant city & to see people I hadn't had the chance to in nearly 20 months.
It was joyful. Menus had been planned. Wines & Champagnes had been bought & I knew that I would be having Burford Boiled Eggs & Soldiers pre-take-off.
I liked being back in an airport. I liked being back on a plane. Masked throughout except when eating or drinking.
Of course, though, some things don't change.
Captain: "L&G, we're just awaiting some last passengers & then we'll be away .." ..
**TwentyMinutesLater**
Captain: "Well, L&G, there's no sign of the missing passengers. We're now removing their six pieces of luggage from the hold .." ..
Me: **SIGH**
We eventually left an hour later. The thrill of taking off & being in the sky again was fantastic.
I also had a sleep on board. On an hour-long flight.
I'd had eggs & soldiers after all.
