Friends Reunion V - The One Where We Marked Christmas
As you may have gathered by now, Christmas is one of my favourite times of year.
From the planning of menus to making lists, (checking them twice), to meeting up with friends & family for food & present-giving.
Last week, roast goose: https://minhallandjones.com/blog/2021/12/9/juicy-goosey
Last night it was here: https://www.andrewedmunds.com
Another favourite haunt of mine.
To begin the evening meal out it was a Quince Bellini which was fruity, sour & fizzy all at the same time.
Starters? Goodness, yes. It's Christmas.
My pal went for Goose Leg with a Celeriac Salad whilst I went with Duck Pâté with Cornichons & Sourdough Toast.
For the main event - Haunch of Venison with Cornish Mid Potatoes, Sprouts & Red Cabbage with Cranberries. The best & most perfectly cooked venison I have ever tasted.
Puddings? Goodness, yes. It's Christmas.
We both went for Mince Pie Sablés & Brandy Cream. Crumbly, not too sweet. Two pies each. I managed one & the other was gifted to the friend to take home.
A glass each of a French Apple Brandy to warm the bones before heading out to a nippy night to head home.
