Bath Time II
The first full day of being in this unique Georgian city & we're off to The Circus both to admire & to eat within.
It's an extraordinary landmark which was designed by the architect John Wood, the Elder. Alas & alack, he passed away three months after stone number one was laid. So, it fell to his son, (yes, you've guessed it, John Wood, the Younger), to complete his father's vision fourteen years later in 1768.
The Circus has been home to many famous luminaries through the centuries including Thomas Gainsborough - No.17 seeing as you've asked. It’s also home to: The Circus Restaurant
And this is where we met .. JESS.
Jess was the most welcoming, warm, helpful, happy waitress any of us had ever met.
Cynical London types, as we are, were completely bowled over by her for our lunch. Here's why ..
From the: "We don't have the Breaded Sardines, (we can't get them right now), but our chef has reinvented the dish with Red Mullet, delicious .."
To: "The fish of the day is Sea Bass with Peperonata .. it's amazing .."
The main event saw one Flat Iron Steak & two Sea Bass plus sharers of chips.
No room for pudding. We discussed & dismissed. Too full.
Having said that .. Homeward bound we bought some dirty pizzas & red wine to be consumed during Strictly, an 80s music prog, Gogglebox, First Dates & ..
Match of the Day.
For my usually football-shy friends this was a new experience.
Arsenal beat Leicester 2-0.
Happy Face. #GoonerGirl
