Marmite in a Loaf!
I never thought I would fall in love during these days, but, I have. I suspect that this was always going to happen because we've known each other for so many years. We have always been good friends through tough times and better ones. Then it happened.
MARMITE IN A LOAF
I am head over heels with this bread which stars the king of yeast extract. There are others who play their part and these are changing on a weekly basis.
Week 1 .. Basic recipe (for one, which lasts a week, for me anyway) ..
250g plain (bread) flour
4g salt
4g dried yeast
4g Parmesan grated
160ml tepid water
1 tbsp MARMITE (whom, one day, I might marry)
Dry stuff in a bowl
Mix
Water & Marmite whisked in a jug
Add to dry things
Stir
No kneading
Cover with tea towel or clingfilm
Love it from afar!
Leave overnight
Gently tip out onto floured greaseproof paper - flour dusting on top - no knocking back required - remind the loaf you love it
Prove for one hour
Put casserole dish with lid into the oven at the hottest setting to warm
Place loaf & the greaseproof paper into the casserole pot & pop the lid on
15-20 mins then take lid off
5-10 mins to crisp the top
Out
Leave to cool for say, 45 secs, then tear some off and consume greedily
Don't forget to tell the loaf that you adore it ..
